Bill Koornstra, CPA, CA, C. Dir.

Managing Partner at RLB

As the Managing Partner of RLB, Bill has a passion for growth and a commitment to guiding the firm to a vision that redefines what it means to be an accounting firm. Bill is focused on always providing clients access to a team valued for their expertise, innovation, and positive contribution to the community. He is truly passionate about helping clients reach their full potential.

Bill believes in the organizational structure of the three P’s; People, Process and Profitability, and will frequently share that if you have great People and strong Process, Profitability will follow. In addition to his designation of Chartered Professional Accountant, Bill also hold a Chartered Director designation which he uses in both client interactions and volunteerism to improve board governance in business and local organizations.

Prior to taking on the role of managing partner Bill was the leader of the tax group at RLB LLP responsible for guiding the growth and development of internal and external tax resources and services for clients of the firm. His strong connection with many local law firms and other business partners helped to grow and further develop the tax practice in the areas of estates and trusts, succession and estate planning, corporate reorganizations, divorce and tax litigation support.

Bill is an avid golfer and he enjoys spending free time with his spouse and two young children.

 

Leanne Seymour

Manager at RLB

Leanne is great at tax planning and solving problems, and chose to study accounting in school because she was always surprisingly good with numbers. Leanne has a great aptitude for accounting and taxation, which helped her succeed early within her profession.

Leanne primarily works with small business owners and individuals on both assurance and tax engagements. Helping clients who are facing tax challenges by breaking down the complexities of the tax system and providing various opportunities for them gives Leanne a great deal of satisfaction. As the world of tax is constantly changing, Leanne continuously focuses on professional development and taking advantage of any learning opportunities that become available.

In her spare time, Leanne enjoys spending time with friends and family, skiing, reading and staying active to keep up with her very energetic golden retriever. She is an avid traveler and is always looking for opportunities to visit new parts of the world.

Suzanna Walter

Suzanna Walter is an Estate & Trust Consultant at Scotia Wealth Management™ | Scotiatrust.® Suzanna has many years of experience in estate planning and in estate and trust administration. During her career, she has practiced law in Ontario and has been a Senior Trust Officer responsible for administering complex estates and trusts. Consequently when she meets with clients to discuss their estate plan, she brings both her legal knowledge and the practical experience of administering estates and trusts.

Suzanna is a member of the Law Society of Ontario, the international organization, STEP (Society for Trust and Estate Practitioners), the Waterloo Wellington Estate Planning Council and the Waterloo Region Law Association.

 

Monique Demoe

Senior Associate, Private Banking at Scotiabank

Monique is responsible for managing client credit requirements and overseeing delivery of their day-to-day banking needs.  Monique joined Scotiabank in 2009 and her clients benefit from over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry managing relationships with both private clients and institutional within Canada and the United States. Previous positions held with the Bank have spanned from being a financial planner to a branch manager.

During her professional career, Monique has helped high net worth clients develop and implemented customized wealth management solutions. By providing consequential work that may confer into significant advantages that my clients may otherwise not be aware of is of great value.

Monique is a graduate of the Bachelor of Commerce program, majoring in Math and Economics, from the University of Guelph. She holds the Personal Financial Planner designation, is a Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute and has completed the Canadian Securities Course through the Canadian Securities Institute.

Monique lives in Cambridge with her four children. She is an active member in the community and lends her time out to not for profit charities and events.
