I think that clients would tell you that I am good at connecting them with other business owners if I feel there is potential synergy for both business owners.
As a firm, we are also very good at providing practical solutions for our clients and that is core strength that we focus on every day for our clients. It’s not just about numbers and the compliance part of our daily work – it’s so much more.
What are you most passionate about?
I am truly passionate about helping clients reach their full potential. I’m focused on always providing clients access to a team valued for their expertise, innovation, and positive contribution to the community. As the Managing Partner of the firm, I have a passion for growth and a commitment to guiding RLB to a vision that redefines what it means to be an accounting firm. I also strive to help team members internally reach their personal and career goals.
I believe in solving problems with the three P’s; People, Process, and Profitability. If an organization focuses on attracting and building great People and if they are willing to build good Process around daily work, then long-term Profitability will most often be the natural outcome from building a business in this deliberate manner.
Aside from work, I am passionate about building my two children into young, aspiring adults who embrace the value of serving and improving their community.
What’s important inside your community? Are you part of any organizations?
I’m currently the Secretary-Treasurer of the Elliott Community board of directors, a continuing care home located on Metcalfe Street in Guelph. I am passionate about making a difference wherever I serve and more importantly, I am a strong advocate for required change.
Finding a way to give back to the community is crucial for me. My family and I have been blessed many times over as a result of our place in our community, and my service in the community will only ever be partial repayment when the final math is tallied. Finding organizations that rightly deserve our time, money, and resources, while making sure they’re doing the right thing for the betterment of our community is very important to me.
What do you feel have been the most important successes in your life?
That’s an easy one – I feel that I have been most successful in my willingness to confront and learn from my failures in life. Rather than avoid or discard them, I am willing to reflect on outcomes with a view to continuous improvement as a professional service provider in the communities we serve.
I try to win more days than I lose and that philosophy has me still jumping out of bed every morning, embracing the view that each day will be better than the day before.
If you could be a superhero or have a superpower, what would it be?
I would make myself invisible. This would be convenient; especially when I am caught sneaking chocolates from the storage closet – no one would know it’s me! I need more timeouts in life than some of my colleagues and invisibility would help me regenerate energy levels in order to maximize performance.
What are your favourite hobbies, sports team, and/or food?
I am an avid golfer. I love the honour of the game, and it’s a great way to network and meet new people.
