Brooke Billings

What are you surprisingly good at?

I’m a really good baker and I can bake a mean cheesecake! What I love about baking is how it can bring people together. I also love experimenting with recipes and laughing when I fail.

I like to think of myself as a dog whisperer. Life without a pet is not a life I want to live!

Problem solving is one of my fortes. I love working through details of a problem to reach a solution. I believe this is an important skill to have.

What are you most passionate about?

Contributing to good causes! Helping organizations with strong purposes, assisting those in need, standing up for animal rights, and overcoming environmental issues are all highly important to me.

I also love fashion. It showcases my personality and gives those who are not artistically-inclined, such as myself, a creative outlet.

What’s important inside your community? Are you part of any organizations?

There are a million things I love about the community of Guelph, but I’m especially passionate about supporting the economy through “buying local,” as well as doing my part supporting Mother Earth. I’m currently involved with the “Yorklands Green Hub,” who hope to restore the Guelph Reformatory grounds into a self-sustaining hub.

What do you feel have been the most important successes in your life?

Obtaining my CPA, CA designation. I also recently got promoted to a Manager at RLB I’m excited for the challenge of a new role!

If you could be a superhero or have a superpower, what would it be?

Like any true people-pleaser, the superpower I would want is to be invisible.

What are your favourite hobbies, sports team, and/or food?

I love travelling and hiking. I’ve been to Italy, Hawaii and Costa Rica most recently. My goal is to visit every state in the USA (I’m over 50% there!). My next destination is Portugal.
