As of November 2018, CRA will no longer provide peel and stick barcode labels with the Registered Charity Information Return (T3010) package. These barcodes contained the charity’s BN/registration number and the charity’s fiscal year end date. You will continue to receive the Registered Charity Basic Information Sheet (Form TF725) with the package, however, the barcode labels will no longer be on the back of it.

How will this impact your charity?

This change will not impact the T3010 form itself as your charity’s BN/registration number and fiscal year end date will appear on the front page. However, this information along with the charity’s name will be missing from the Directors/Trustees and Like Officials Worksheet (T1235) and the Qualified Donees Worksheet (T1236), which, when applicable, must be submitted with the T3010.

We recommend manually writing your charity’s BN/registration number at the top of each of these forms. Why? If these forms get mistakenly separated from the T3010, it is difficult to link them back to the correct charity.

Feeling overwhelmed?

It is important to remember that all charities must file a T3010 regardless of whether or not they were active during the year. Filling the T3010 form out correctly is crucial as it is one of the main ways that CRA determines whether it will audit a registered charity.

If RLB submits your charity’s T3010 for you, ensure you continue to provide us with Form TF725, as this must be included with the T3010 whether there are changes to it or not.
