Personally, I’m surprisingly good at performing impressions of cartoon characters. Professionally, I’m great with numbers and excel at understanding and synthesizing business problems. Quite the combination, I know.
What are you most passionate about?
I enjoy understanding and evaluating businesses internally, specifically the intricacies of issues facing businesses today. Unrelated to accounting, I’m passionate about technology and traveling; it’s a bonus if I can combine the two. I recently traveled to Iceland which made for some spectacular aerial photos that I was able to capture with my drone. I’m also a sports fan, and although I enjoy all sports, I’m a big hockey fan and enjoy watching the Toronto Maple Leafs. When I’m not doing any of the above I like to spend time with family and friends, or catch the latest episode of Game of Thrones.
What’s important inside your community? Are you part of any organizations?
Growing up in a small town, I can really appreciate the sense of community that it fosters. In a town where everyone knows one another, it helps to build a sense of trust and comradery, similar from a firm like RLB. Through my undergraduate degree, I was involved in a variety of not-for-profit student organizations that were designed to provide value to the business students at the University of Guelph. In addition, I participated in a variety of charity initiatives for local groups, such as Wyndham House and United Way. I’m very proud of RLB’s commitment to community involvement and growth and believe that the firm positively impacts each of the communities in which it resides.
What do you feel have been the most important successes in your life?
Thurs far in my budding career, I’m proud to have graduated with honors from the University of Guelph’s Management Economics and Finance program with co-op. I’ve also completed a graduate diploma in Accounting, also with honors. While in school, I earned several awards for my extracurricular involvement and success in intra-university case competitions. I’m looking forward to making a similar impact in the workplace.
If you could be a superhero or have a superpower, what would it be?
The ability to teleport anywhere in the world would be incredible as it would definitely help to expedite my travel plans.
Anything else you want to add?
Throughout my undergraduate degree, I worked for a number of companies across various industries before deciding to work in accounting. These include a marketing agency, a manufacturing and production company, and a technology conglomerate. Although I never had the pleasure of spending one of my co-op work terms at RLB, I was quickly attracted to them based on their incredible culture and sense of community that was on full display at various events hosted at the University of Guelph. I’m thrilled to work for a firm that mirrors so many of my core values.
