Kyle Turriff

Information & Communications Supervisor

What are you surprisingly good at?

I’m pretty good at teaching. Most of what I do is acting as a translator for people between tech and accounting and helping people marry the two worlds. I’m also pretty good at golf and video games if that counts…

What are you most passionate about?

I like to challenge myself and others! I like to present new ideas and start challenging the “status quo” and the way things have always been done. You will know I am engaged when I start throwing ideas at you at an alarming rate. My personality type has been assessed as a “logician” according to 16 Personalities. If you ever get into a debate with me, you’ll start seeing my passion come out and that is my passion for finding the appropriate, efficient and logical next steps to reach a goal.

What’s important inside your community? Are you part of any organizations?

I’m not directly involved in any not-for-profit organizations, but I’m looking for the right opportunity. I find I like to be a participant in a lot of community events, whether it be local fundraisers or charity golf tournaments. I do, however, have a couple of causes that are near and dear to my heart. Most notably is the Rally Against Cancer Hardcore (RACH). I like to keep things personal and local to the friends and family that I know.

What do you feel have been the most important successes in your life?

One of the things I’m most proud of is through elementary school, to high school, to my first job, and to the career I have now, in any situation that I’ve been in, I have been able to earn more and more responsibility in any role I have had. I pushed myself to be where I am today! I am most proud of these trusting relationships that I am continuing to build.

If you could be a superhero or have a superpower, what would it be?

To stop time! If I had this superpower, it would be a way of living forever or at least a lot longer. I could do whatever I wanted; I could learn a new language, travel places while time was stopped… I would always be prepared. I despise the excuse of “I don’t have enough time.” Being able to stop time would allow me to get things straightened out.

I would just have to decide if I would tell people I had this power or let them think I was awesome…

What are your favourite hobbies, sports team, and/or food?

I’m a big Oilers fan, and pretty religiously, too… I’m also a huge fan of stand-up comedy (always geeking out to it), and games in general. My favourite place in the world is Georgian Bay, Parry Sound area (where I’m from). The marriage of accounting and technology is also where my interests lie.
