Like all the RLB LLP partners, Matt enjoys building personal relationships with his clients and acting as their confidants, as well as in tapping into the resources of the firm’s dynamic group of professionals to bring a holistic approach to serving them.

Matt worked for two national accounting firms in Northern Ontario before joining RLB LLP in 2005. Being exposed to some of the largest and most complex audits has given him a broader perspective that benefits his current clients, especially those in the municipal and not-for-profit sectors. While those experiences were valuable, Matt chose to build his career at RLB LLP, where the environment is more client-centered and encourages serving each client as an individual.

Matt and his family are thrilled to have made a home in the rural community of Fergus. Community is as important to Matt as it is to the clients he serves, most of whom are not-for-profits, municipalities or small businesses.

“Here, it’s all personal. Not-for-profits exist as a service to the community and are driven by the volunteer effort; municipalities are the level of government that are most directly in tune with the people; and about 60% of the people in Fergus are employed by small businesses.”

Matt gives back to the community through his position as chair of membership for the Rotary Club of Fergus-Elora, which he finds a wonderful way to be community focused and also have an international reach. He’s also active in his church.
