David Moller, CA
David enjoys accounting, but he also appreciates his leisure and family time. He has been an accountant all of his working life, having joined a firm in London, England straight from high school. Following some time working in England, he worked in Africa and Asia as well. He loves to share the experiences of working in these different countries with the many different cultures.
In 1991 he moved with his family to Canada and joined RLB in 1997, working as a manager for most of that time. His enthusiasm for accounting has not decreased. He gets a lot of satisfaction from knowing that his clients have received real value from his services. After working in big cities David enjoys Guelph because he enjoys bumping into clients and colleagues at the mall or the Farmers’ market. This never happened in London with over 8 million people.
David particularly enjoys working with students. He spends considerable amount of time helping to train and develop the accounting students in our office. He teaches them a lot more than just how to put a file together, but how to interact with clients and how to ensure a client is completely satisfied with our services.
David also enjoys the analytical side of accounting including bringing order to a mess of information and trying to keep up-to-date with all the technical changes.
His role has changed in the past couple of years. David has begun taking on a more significant administrative position in scheduling our staff and client work, and trying to ensure that the staff skills are matched appropriately with the needs of each client. This has its challenges, but he enjoys the daily interactions with the staff members. When he isn’t working on internal training or scheduling, he still maintains a client base including several charitable organizations that form an important part of his daily work.
David sits on the board of Community Torchlight, which operates the crisis and distress phone lines in the Guelph area. One day, he would like to have more hands-on involvement in a charitable activity.
Outside of office hours David likes to spend time with his family, walking, reading, and going to church. Having lived in different countries, he also appreciates other cultures and enjoys all kinds of international food. His travels are more local these days, but he visits England and France whenever he can, and enjoys the varied history and beautiful countryside in both countries.
