Omar Chaudry, CA
I got into accounting because I respect numbers. A few numbers can easily paint a picture in our minds and influence our decisions. It matters to me that the numbers we all rely on everyday are the right numbers.
At RLB, I have the opportunity to do this every day, alongside people who care deeply about their community and are also some of the most forward thinking in the accounting profession. The most satisfying part of my job is providing my clients with the right numbers on time, so that they can make an informed decision.
My time is divided between valuation and audit work. Our valuation practice services clients in a variety of situations, including acquisition, divestiture, dispute resolution, and tax planning. In our audit practice, I work for a broad range of clients from manufacturing and wholesale to service companies to non-profit associations and charitable organizations.
At RLB, I work with a very wide range of partners and specialists on a regular basis, and this coupled with my diverse client-base makes me a bit of a generalist. My broad experience-base makes me ideal for clients with unique issues that may not fit into any standard templates. The favourite part of my job is learning new ways to help clients everyday, be it from my experienced and knowledgeable colleagues or be it from attending new training courses.
I feel that I have been very fortunate in life and my goal in life is to pay it forward and help improve the lives of people around me. RLB continually provides me with many opportunities to give back to the community, such as building with Habitat for Humanity and volunteering at the Hopewell Children’s Homes fundraiser. In 5 years I see every resident of Guelph recognizing the RLB name as a community partner, and I hope to have contributed towards that as much as possible.
