I became an accountant for the opportunity to help people, businesses and organizations achieve their goals.  Having a keen interest in business, accounting, finance and math, it was a natural career path.  Looking back it was the advice to “learn as much as you can about accounting if you are going to pursue a career in business” that pushed me to obtain an accounting designation.  I received this advice from a successful entrepreneur; for whom I worked in a non-accounting position as a student.

Working as a general accountant in a smaller public accounting firm for the past seven years has provided all kinds of opportunity to service a diverse group of clients.  Projects have included providing annual assurance services, tax compliance, and providing business advice to our clients. I have learned so much from this experience and continue to learn new things every day.  I enjoy the variety of work as every client and everyday is different.

When not at the office, I enjoy all kinds of outdoor activities from mountain biking, camping, swimming, hiking and golfing in the summer to snowmobiling and snowboarding in the winter.  Having grown up on a farm, I aspire to one day return to the country.
