Omar Chaudry

CPA, CA

Senior Manager

What are you surprisingly good at?

English grammar and impulse control!

What are you most passionate about?

At RLB, I have the opportunity to work alongside people who care deeply about their community and are also some of the most forward-thinking in the accounting profession. I work in our Business Valuations department and help business owners with due diligence,  divestiture, financing, and even litigation support. The most satisfying part of my job is providing solutions to any problems my clients may have. I am grateful that my job allows me to work with a wide range of partners and specialists on a regular basis. This, coupled with my diverse client-base, means I am always learning and improving myself. My broad experience-base makes me ideal for clients with unique issues that may not fit into any standard templates. The favourite part of my job is learning new ways to help clients every day, be it from my experienced and knowledgeable colleagues, or from attending new training courses.

Outside of work, I’m passionate about film making. The visual effects, the use of music, and every aspect of the film and how it can create this whole experience really fascinates me.

What’s important inside your community? Are you part of any organizations?

I am quite politically engaged and volunteer for an Electoral District Association in Guelph. I like to get involved with campaigning for social and policy issues, getting people to sign petitions, trying to influence leaders and politicians towards better policies and so on. Just as I think it is important for individuals to always be struggling to enhance themselves, I believe communities should as well. We should always try to improve the way our society operates for our neighbours and our children.

I have been very lucky and my goal in life is to pay it forward. RLB continuously provides me with many opportunities to give back to the community, such as building with Habitat for Humanity and volunteering at the Hopewell Children’s Homes fundraiser.

What do you feel have been the most important successes in your life?

Getting married, passing the CA exam, and being able to work at a firm where my job involves working with people who need to make important and tough decisions and being that advisor that can help them overcome these obstacles.

If you could be a superhero or have a superpower, what would it be?

To stop time. I want to be able to spend more time with my family and catching up on sleep wouldn’t hurt either!

What are your favourite hobbies, sports team, and/or food?

My favourite foods are bubble tea and shawarma poutine.
