The process to gain access to a corporate clients’ information with CRA, either by phone, or online changed as of May 15th, 2017. To request online access to tax information for a business, your accountant will now ask you to complete the authorization request in Represent a Client. Form RC59 will no longer be used to authorize online access.

Establishing a holdco is most commonly used to hold the shares of an operating company (“opco”). Retained earnings of the opco can be transferred to the holdco through a tax-free intercompany dividend, in most cases.
