Connecting Kids to Nature through Photography

Focus on Nature is a Community Benefit Organization whose mission is to inspire young people to explore and find connections to nature through photography. Kids today don’t spend enough time outdoors and it is having a negative effect on them, on our community, and on the future of our world; an effect that has been neatly summed up as “Nature Deficit Disorder.”

Since 2008, Focus on Nature and its team of 60 volunteer mentors have worked with over 9,000 children in Guelph and Wellington County. Our program of school workshops and camps is now expanding to the Waterloo Region and beyond. As a registered charity, we are proud to have the support of many local businesses including RLB Chartered Professional Accountants.

To make the boys and girls in our program proud of their nature photography, and to raise awareness of our unique program, we will be showing some of the best work by the student photographers at the new 10C Welcome Area at 42 Carden Street during the month of September. Viewing times are Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm. We invite you to drop by and enjoy these remarkable photographs! To learn more about Focus on Nature, visit www.focusonnature.ca.
