Like many HR representatives in the field, Jessica’s path to becoming a Human Resources Generalist had a turn or two along the way. Jessica gained her first working experience in Human Resources within Compensation at Research In Motion while she was on the Market Research and Analytics team. Although she became a whiz at Excel, and really enjoyed working with numbers, she craved more people interaction for her career. She hoped to obtain a role in which she could partner with both the organization and the employees in order to bring success and growth to both parties.
At RLB, Jessica is striving to become the bridge that allows both the employees and management to connect and come to mutually beneficial decisions. Her view on Human Resources is that a company’s employees are the most valuable asset within an organization, and in order for an organization to be successful, they must attract and retain the right team members.
Jessica’s experience with the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act and The Employment Standards Act, have made her a key player in minimizing risk at RLB. This is complimented by her experience in Psychology, Family & Children Studies, and employee relations which contributes to maximizing the RLB standard of making People Count each and every day.
Communication, problem solving, and organization are Jessica’s strong points and are evident in her volunteer work. Jessica is on the Public Relations Committee with the Guelph & District Chapter of the Human Resources Professionals Association and with her leadership, the committee was able to give back to the Guelph Community through the charity golf tournament initiative.
Although spare time is sometimes hard to find, when she can she enjoys singing and teaching, and is actively involved in her local church.
