Firm Holiday Initiatives

The snow is falling, festive music is on, decorations are hung… ‘Tis the season! The holidays are a great way to show our love and appreciation towards the community. We know there are families and communities around us that may not be fortunate enough to celebrate the holidays in the same way most of us do. This is why we love giving back to our community! At RLB, Community Counts.

  • Adopt-a-Family
    • Once again this year, RLB has signed up to the Adopt-a-Family campaign, a program run by Family and Children Services. It is designed to help a family that is struggling to provide a nice holiday season for their children because we truly believe that People and Community Counts. This year, we were assigned a single mom with three boys aged 10, 9, and 6. The team provided monetary donations, clothes, toys, gift cards, and much more to this family. This is a great initiative that we have done over the years, and it feels great to know this family will have an amazing holiday!

  • Food Banks
    • Last year, the firm’s holiday initiative was a toy drive to make a difference in a child’s life. This year, we decided to go with the theme of food. In lieu of gifts, we made a monetary donation to food banks in the four communities we work in: Guelph, Kitchener, Fergus, and Orangeville.

Movember

November is a month to bring awareness to a health crisis that isn’t being talked about: men dying at a very young age. The team at RLB has been supporting the Movember Foundation, the only charity tackling men’s health on a global scale, addressing health issues that men face such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health, and suicide prevention. We raised over $1600 towards this cause, exceeding our goal by over 50%! A huge thank you goes out to our Mo Bros for their individual fundraising efforts and commitment to growing their moustache.

Beyond Borders: Ambition

Beyond Borders is a business leadership program run in Guelph. This group of grade 12 students are breaking the standards of what high schools students can do and achieve. On Saturday, January 13th, Beyond Borders presents Ambition. Ambition is an event held at the River Run centre in Guelph that gives back to 3 important causes: Mount Sinai Hospital, Sick Kids Hospital, and Syrian Refugees. The night will be filled with amazing performers, as well as silent and live auctions. Visit their website to learn more about the program. If you would like to purchase tickets, click here.
